Employee Spotlight – Tracy McCulla
What is your position and how long have you worked at FOD Mobility Group?
My current position is Quality Manager, which I started in January 2021. Prior to that I was Customer Success Manager in the Service Delivery Centre (SDC). Before that I was a Rental Product Specialist in the vehicle rental development team. In total, I’ve been at FOD for three years.
What does your job role entail?
My job is to look after three teams within the Technical team:
- Quality – Ensuring that the output of work throughout FOD’s Mobility Technology team is of the highest quality.
- Support – This team looks after our customers & end users from a technical perspective, including indepth training of the systems.
- Release Management – This team ensures that our development releases have passed the stringent Quality Assurance process and go out on time.
What projects are you currently working on?
My current project is all around efficiencies. For tech – this means introducing automated testing within our codebase to allow for quicker release turnaround. I’m also working closely with the SDC and Finance departments to maximise their team’s output by using system automations.
What are your goals within the next 12 months?
My main goal for this year is to grow and settle the team, and hopefully not move roles again. 😉
What do you find most rewarding about your role?
Solving a problem for someone and finding solutions can make someone’s day/week/month/year. I love getting feedback from people that shows how appreciative they are about what we are doing as a team here at FOD.
What do you enjoy most about working at FOD Mobility Group?
The people. It’s the friendliest place I’ve ever worked at. I’ve wanted to work at FOD since my first visit as a customer back in 2014.
What advice would you give to someone looking to join the business?
FOD Mobility Group is growing rapidly and the next two years will shape how we travel, not only as a business, but as a consumer. If you want to be a part of that, you need to apply now!
What motivates you in your career?
I’m motivated by improvement. Improving myself, improving our team, improving our products. If I can finish the week knowing that my input has improved something – that makes me happy.
What is the best career lesson you’ve learned to date?
Go with your heart. I mentioned earlier that I’ve wanted to work for FOD since 2014, and it took me five years to make the leap. I don’t look back with regrets usually, but in my mind it was time wasted.
What things do you enjoy outside of work?
I am an outdoorsy person so you’ll find me out walking, building dens, splashing in puddles and streams with my family at weekends or early in the morning. I have a daughter (Molly, 17 years), a son (William, 5 years) and a dog (Riley, also 5 years). If you’ve ever spoken to me on MS Teams, then you’ve almost certainly met Riley. They keep me active and on my toes.
What three words best describe you as a person?
Organised, sarcastic and nosey!
What did you want to be when you grew up and why?
I wanted to be a police detective. I think it sits nicely with my love of problem solving. Sadly, it wasn’t to be.
Who would you most like to meet and why?
My grandfather. He passed away before I was born and I’m told that we are a lot alike. My nosey nature obviously means I want to find out for myself.
Where is your favourite holiday destination?
Anywhere there’s culture (and maybe a beach). I look forward to tasting local dishes and embracing different lifestyles.
What are your three all-time favourite songs?
House of Pain – Jump Around
Crayon Pop – Uh-ee (don’t judge)
Alphabeat – 10,000 Nights
