Employee Spotlight – Cesar Alcocer
Welcome to our new Employee Spotlight series, which showcases the talented individuals that make up our amazing team here at FOD Mobility Group. Each month we’ll be featuring insights into their role and what they get up to in their downtime. Our first post features Cesar Alcocer, our in house UX/UI Lead.
What is your position and how long have you worked at FOD Mobility Group?
I’m working as the new UX/UI Lead and I started with FOD in January 2022.
What does your job role entail?
I work on the full range of products that FOD Mobility Group offers, including the Fleetondemand vehicle rental platform, our market-leading Mobilleo MaaS platform, and our latest Movezero eMaaS platform. My focus is on managing the design, development and implementation of the full user experience and user interface fundamentals across all three products.
What projects are you currently working on?
One of the current projects I am working on is building a presentation which outlines the concept of effective UX/UI to my team and key stakeholders in the business. The point of this is for the company to gain greater understanding of how I plan to further enhance the user experience for all our products with a customer centric approach so we can produce the best possible outcome for the future development of our products.
What are your goals within the next 12 months?
In terms of production, I would like to implement UX fundamentals and adopt constant usability testing and detailed research to improve the development of our products. This includes a deeper analysis and understanding of our current systems and how we can enhance them based on user behaviour and requirements.
What do you find most rewarding about your role?
What I find most rewarding about my position as UX/UI lead is my ability to have an influence on overcoming any challenges presented by the projects I am working on.
What do you enjoy most about working at FOD Mobility Group?
During my limited time at FOD Mobility Group so far, I have experienced a very welcoming atmosphere with many promising opportunities ahead of me. I love the way everyone connects with each other, there is a really good vibe at FOD. This will be a very challenging role, but I feel very comfortable with the support I’m receiving and the calm, can-do attitude of everyone around me.
The company is investing in a new workplace environment this year, and I am very much looking forward to settling into that and making use of the new facilities.
What advice would you give to someone looking to join the business?
The way people travel is changing rapidly, everything is moving to the digital space in terms of how we manage our mobility and interactions with providers. If you are interested in working in the mobility sector (vehicle rental, travel), this is a great place to learn and understand the industry itself. It’s also a great place to grow as a professional.
What motivates you in your career?
What motivates me is to use my intuitive nature, creativity and improvisation to solve problems in a better way. Over the years I have learned that this is something I really enjoy doing and I put this into practice both in and out of work.
What is the best career lesson you’ve learned to date?
I have learned how to solve problems by producing clear concise solutions that leave very little margin for error. If you approach a problem with the knowledge, confidence and mindset to overcome it, the sky is the limit.
What things do you enjoy outside of work?
I have a dog, I am a very pet-friendly person. I like the outdoors, walking, trekking, riding bikes. I do this a lot at weekends and in the evenings. I have found it easier to combine my work life and professional life here in the UK. The culture and flexibility that FOD provides has allowed me to do this.
What three words best describe you as a person?
Creative, hyperactive, and orderly!
What did you want to be when you grew up and why?
I was always keen to help other people or be around art and creativity. That’s something that motivated me a lot when I was younger. When I wanted to do something, I would do my best to go and learn as much as I could about it. I always wanted to express my thoughts and ideas in the best way I could and live by them.
Who would you most like to meet and why?
I would like to meet Sir Richard Branson, not because of what he does or what he has achieved, I just think it would be interesting to spend a weekend with him brainstorming ideas on his private island!
Where is your favourite holiday destination?
I like to be anywhere near the ocean and a beach. I recently visited Scotland in the winter, which was a nice contrast between the beautiful Caribbean-like beaches and the cold weather!
What are your top three favourite songs of all time?
That would have to be Wonderwall by Oasis, Welcome to the Jungle by Guns N’ Roses and Natural Mystic by Bob Marley.
