FOD Futures – Oliver and Siar
This month we have another edition of FOD Futures where we showcase the talent behind the company. This month, we welcome two new employees to our development team – Siar and Oliver.
Oliver
Name/Position/Where do you live?
Oliver Hunt, Web Developer, Leeds
What kind of things have you worked on in the past?
I have worked on projects for businesses and brands across a variety of sectors while working for an agency. Not just great looking sites but business tools too, like custom content management and a contract management system. I have also worked on single product teams developing bespoke solutions, most recently a disease control and prevention application within the agricultural tech sector.
What was it about FOD that made you accept a job here?
I love getting stuck into a big project and seeing it develop and improve over time with customers feedback. The focus of FOD on building software and tools for businesses within a single sector seemed like a good fit for me and it allows the developers here to focus on a single product rather than be spread thin across multiple projects.
How have you found working at FOD so far?
It’s been great so far! I’ve been working on the Mobilleo web interface and we have been making some great progress as we near launch. The team I’m working with on Mobilleo are a good bunch.
What are you looking forward to for the future?
Making Mobilleo a best in class application and developing it to our customer’s needs.
Siar

What kind of things have you worked on in the past?
I received my BSc in Computer Science from Kabul University with an average of 86%. I was awarded a scholarship to Germany where I completed my MSc in computer science from Technische Universität Berlin (TU-Berlin).
From 2007-2011, I worked for Afghan eQuality Alliances (AeQA) a USAID Funded Project which was implemented by Washington State University (WSU). While working with AeQA I equipped eight public universities of Afghanistan with E-Learning Platforms and technology centres called Afghanistan Next Generation e-Learning (ANGeL) Centre. Initially, I taught Information Technology and E-Learning platforms to Faculties, and students. Later on, I was managing ANGeL Centres and Coordinating between different projects of AeQA, specifically capacity building programs for Faculties and Master’s in Public Policy Administration (MPPA) program for government officials.
From 2011-2013, I was studying my MSc in Computer Science in TU-Berlin. After my studies in TU-Berlin I started working in the Computer Science Faculty of Kandahar University as a lecturer. Besides teaching subjects such as Software Engineering and Programming Languages, I was Head of Curriculum Committee and tailored a suitable curriculum for the computer science faculty of Kandahar University.
I left Afghanistan and on 20th June 2016, I joined 1st Locate UK Ltd as a Systems Developer, where I developed quality, secure, and scalable software solutions to fulfill the needs of the company.
What was it about FOD that made you accept a job here?
With the floor full of talents, it can be a good place to start a new position and learning new things every day.
How have you found working at FOD so far?
Exciting, new projects and more challenges which is what keeps me busy.
What are you looking forward to for the future?
There are a lot of opportunities in FOD to go up the ladder, your work is recognised. With a bit of guidance, you can go as far as you want. I will be looking forward to leading and managing my own team with some exciting new projects in the near future.
